여행 중 만난 사람들 111 – 태국 1

동생들 부부와 함께 파타야에서의 4박 5일 일정을 마치고 함께 버스로 방콕 수완나품 국제공항으로 왔다(약 122km. 약 1시간 40분 소요). 동생들 부부를 보내고 난 뒤 우리 부부는 수완나품 국제공항에서 국내선을 타고 크라비로 이동했다(약 1000km. 1시간 20분 소요. 버스로 이동시 약 13시간 소요).

지금까지 크라비는 네 번째 방문이다. 모두 버스와 기차로 이동했다. 비행기로 오긴 이번이 처음이다. 역시 시간 절약이 그렇고 편안함이 그만이었다. 사실 아내의 차 멀리가 너무 심해서 장거리 버스 여행은 더 이상 곤란하다는 판단을 한 것이다.

이곳에 마지막으로 온 것이 2011년 8월이었다. 꼭 11년 만에 다시 온 것인데 혹시나 하고 이곳의 모닝마켓에 들렸더니 그 때 그곳의 죽집이 그대로 있었다. 주인장은 바뀌었지만 죽맛은 그대로였다. 그 때 죽값이 15밧트(600원)였는데 지금은 30밧트(1200원), 정확히 100% 올랐다.

내가 새 주인장에게 11년 전의 이야기를 했더니 지금의 주인장이 바뀐 건 5년 전이며 자기 삼촌이었다고 했다. 그는 나를 아주 반기며 내 죽을 더 맛있게 해주려고 온갖 양념을 정성껏 넣어 주었다.

이곳 크라비에 온 지도 벌써 3일째다. 내일 아침도 나는 그 죽집에 간다. 시장에 펼쳐놓은 걸상에 걸터 앉아 현지인들과 함께 식사를 한다. 이 역시 내가 좋아하는 분위기여서 여행의 즐거움은 배가 된다.

People met on my backpacking 111 – Thailand 1

My wife and I finished our four nights and five days in Pattaya with my two sisters and their husbands. We took a bus together to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport (about 122 km, about 1 hour and 40 minutes). After they left us for Seoul, we moved from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to Krabi on a domestic flight (about 1,000 kilometers). It takes about an hour and 20 minutes. About 13 hours to travel by bus).

My wife and I are visiting Krabi for the fourth time so far. We all moved by bus and train. It's the first time we've come here by plane. As expected, it was time-saving and comfortable. In fact, my wife was so carsick that it was no longer possible to travel by long distance bus.

The last time we came here was in August 2011. We're back here for the first time in 11 years. So we stopped by the morning market here just in case, and the porridge restaurant there was still there. The owner changed, but the taste of the porridge remained the same. At that time, the price of porridge was 15 baht (a half dollar), but now it is 30 baht (about one dollar), and the price of porridge has risen by 100%.

I told him about our visiting here 11 years ago. He said that the former owner was his uncle. He seemed to be kind enough just like his uncle. He tried to make my porridge more delicious.

It's already been three days since we came to Krabi. I go to the porridge house tomorrow morning, too. I sit on a stool spread out at the market and eat with the locals. This is also my favorite atmosphere, so the pleasure of my trip doubles.
