세계여행기구에 따라면 2007년 통계를 기준으로 할 때, 독일인들이 연간 829억 달러를 해외여행에 써 세계 1등이었다. 이어서 미국(762억 달러), 영국(723억 달러), 프랑스(367억 달러), 중국(298억 달러),  이탈리아(273억), 일본(265억 달러), 캐나다(248억), 러시아(223억), 한국(209억 달러)이었다. 인구비례로는 한국인이 일본인보다 더 많이 여행을 하는 셈이다.

International tourism top spenders

The World Tourism Organization reports the following countries as the top ten biggest spenders on international tourism for the year 2007. For the fifth year in a row, German tourists continue as the top spenders.^[4] A study by Dresdner Bank^[8] forecasts that for 2008, Germans and Europeans, in general, will continue to be the top spenders, because of the strength of the Euro against the United States dollar, with strong demand for the U.S. in favor of other destinations.^[9]
