As expressed publicly on a number of occasions, we fear that such forced returns exposes them to real risks of serious human rights violations, such as arbitrary detention, torture and gender-based violence, including sexual violence.¡±

[·Î·±½º ´ëº¯ÀÎ]¡°Our 2020 report, "I still feel the pain: human rights violations against women detained in the DPRK¡±, details first-hand and eyewitness accounts of such human rights violations perpetrated against people, particularly against women, who had departed the DPRK, in violation of DPRK law, and had subsequently been forcibly returned. On numerous occasions, including during the course of this year, we have raised these concerns publicly in the media and in reports to the UN General Assembly and Human Rights Council. OHCHR is engaged in bilateral discussions, [in addition to other UN agencies], directly with the member states concerned with a view to finding a solution consistent with international human rights standards. The issue remains a priority for the UN Human Rights Office.¡±
